Setting up a device for email access

Setting up your Mediadrive email is easy! Follow these steps to get your email working on any device.

What You’ll Need

  • Your full email address (e.g., john@mediadrive.ca)
  • Your email password
  • 5-10 minutes to complete setup

Manual Setup (Universal Settings)

Use these settings for any email client that asks or allows for manual configuration:

Understanding Your Settings

Encryption Options

  • TLS (Transport Layer Security): Modern, secure encryption – use this when available
  • SSL (Secure Sockets Layer): Older but still secure – use if TLS isn’t available

Note: Encryption is required for all Mediadrive email connections. If you’re having connection issues, try switching between TLS and SSL, but never disable encryption entirely.

Common Port Alternatives

If the standard ports don’t work, try these:

  • SMTP: 25, 465 (SSL), or 587 (TLS)

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Email Not Sending or Receiving

  • Check your internet connection
  • Verify your email address and password are correct
  • Confirm server names match your domain exactly
  • Try different port numbers (see alternatives above)

Authentication Errors

  • Double-check your password
  • Ensure SMTP authentication is enabled
  • Turn off Secure Authentication (SPA) if enabled
  • Ensure your using your email address as the username

Connection Timeouts

  • Switch between TLS and SSL encryption
  • Try different port numbers
  • Temporarily disable antivirus email scanning
  • Check if your ISP blocks email ports
